Covid-19

The global epidemic poses enormous challenges for governments as they seek to protect both the health of citizens and the global economy.  This has meant that many countries have had to pass emergency legislation.

Undergraduate volunteers are currently working with the Quill Project to upload information on the measures taken in UK Parliament and in the US Congress into our platform, to enable both a study of the measures taken in each country and a comparison of the approaches taken and the process of debate in each case.

Examining the detail of this legislation will be of value not only to people now, but for future study of the measures taken in different countries. And for the Quill Project, it is an opportunity to see whether models and methodologies that we have developed primarily for historical material are equally applicable to help understand the present.
