Knowledge Exchange Fellowship
In September 2018, Dr Nicholas Cole was awarded a Knowledge Exchange Fellowship by Oxford University in order to strengthen Quill’s partnerships and to develop materials for non-specialist audiences.
As a result of the grant, Quill has been able to work with The Constitutional Sources Project (ConSource), a non-profit organization connecting people to the documentary history of the creation, ratification and amendment of the United States Constitution, and the Law Library Microform Company (LLMC), a non-profit consortium of 500+ research libraries providing digital access to legal materials.
This collaboration has resulted in new materials for public educators aimed at broadening understanding of constitutional processes and democratic institutions; ConSource has, in fact, begun to incorporate Quill into its lesson packs for US High Schools. The funding from the Knowledge Exchange grant also opened the way for representatives from both ConSource and LLMC to participate in a special session on creating materials for classroom use at Quill’s workshop in Pembroke in February 2019.
It is hoped that this dynamic multi-institution collaboration will result in a comprehensive online collection of materials relating to US constitutional history. The three partners are currently working on a joint funding application to realize this ambition.
